Oh, Hehe, P.S.

Oh, um, p.s., we moved.
Our closing date on both houses was February 25. Our new house is in Lucas, almost exactly 10 minutes door-to-door from here to our "old house". We were able to start painting this house on the 23rd, and to start moving some things in on the 24. Two of our friends came over and helped us paint rooms, and do enamel in the office(the office enamel had been dark green), and even paint the office's ceiling! All of these ceilings are popcorn, so painting them is/will be no small task.
The boys' room is brown again, but this brown is lighter than what was in our other house. The girls chose yellow for their(our?) room, and the parents got a taupey color, like this: http://makeup-color.com/wp-content/uploads/2008/taupe.jpg
Mom's office is the same color that it was in our "old" house, a relaxing green slightly darker than this: http://www.agrob-butchtal.de/plural/en/grafik/farben/softgruen.gif
The house is of course smaller than our other one-it is a one-story and it was built in the 70's- but we have an acre and a half in our yard, which is an acre and a quarter more than we used to have! There is also 7 acres for sale behind us, and we are hoping...
Here is the house:

We still have our 2 guinea pigs, 1 rabbit and cat, and the previous owners left their 2 barn cats here, too, so we adopted them. I have never personally seen them, but some of the family have caught glimpses once in a while.

We haven't done as much work inside the house as we have out doors. Inside, we have painted, replaced electrical plug-ins, replaced a door, and created more walking space in the attic. But OUTSIDE...
Planted 13 fruit trees
Made (thank you, Dad) and planted 8 garden beds
Planted several raspberry and grape plants
Cut down 6 trees and 3 or 4 bushes from the front yard(THANKS, Grandma and Grandpa T!)
Finished fencing in the pasture
Lined the pasture with goat fencing

We're excited for fall, because with the house came 2 pecan trees, 1 fig tree and one pear tree, all already producing.
We have so many plans for this house, from remodeling the kitchen and extending the pantry to painting the brick fireplace and scraping all the popcorn off the ceilings and spraying them white.
Needless to say, some of those things (like remodeling the kitchen, for example) are a little more long term. :)

God Bless America

Had to take these pictures. This flag is in our front yard. Whenever I see these pictures, especially the upper one, it fills me with a huge sense of patriotism. I pray for this nation, and hope that America will remain a country that we can be proud of. God Bless America, Our Home Sweet Home.

Clean Vaccum!

We now own a CLEAN vaccum. Mom decided to clean out the brush in the vaccum. Good idea! We got in there with our hands and scissors. Want to know if it made any difference? Well, everything in her hand came off the brush. Yes, all of that hair and string and dust was in, er, on, the vaccum. The very think we used TO clean things was Filthy.

And now we have a clean vaccum!

Happy Birthday to Me

I can not believe that I am 14 now, and now in Mia Maids! Scary thoughts!
I am getting more used to the idea the more I think about it, but it still seems weird to me that I am 14, and kind of sad that I will never be 13 again. Oh, well. I'm sure I'll love being 14 just as much as I did being 13. :)

Our Glorious Snow Fort

Well, used-to-be snow fort, anyway! This morning (a week after we made it), this is all that is left of it. I am pretty proud that we still have snow a week after it snowed! I thought that this snow looked so sad-looking and yucky, but I wanted to "record" it.

The grass is so brown-the pictures look almost like they were taken in sepia.
Here, you can see a tiny tiny bit of green starting to come up, though!^

The rest of the Snow pictures-sorry, there are a lot!

Top of the house.
Several inches on the top of Dad's truck. And look, you can barely see the difference between the sky and the snow.
Snow on the sides of Dad's truck's bed^
It almost fully filled our compost pile-woah!^
Frozen Veggies, anyone?^

It tried to fill the wagon, but not quite to the top.

Our neighbor's tree is GORGEOUS-but of course that is just my opinion :) In front of it is our small pear tree.^
I am not even touching the ground!^
Tyler got the job of shoveling the snow off the trampoline-lucky him ^
Our Red Oak Tree. ^
Backyard shot, complete with SNOW, footprints, and Tyler hard at work (in his p.j.s)
The top view of our back porch table. ^

Footprints in the snow!^
Our House, enjoying it's icy bath.
even the coldesac is covered!
more footprints, making a nice path to the neighbors' houses :) I LOVE our neighbors. We are going to miss them so much! Especially since we won't really have as many neighbors where we are going!

SNOW!

We woke up to a snowing day on Thursday, expecting it to stop after a little bit, like usual (well, not that snow is usual here). Not so! It snowed ALL day Thursday, huge flakes! (I might add that when I woke up at 7:30 Thursday morning, there already WAS snow-enough to stick to the ground.) School was cancelled Friday, and replaced by a day of FUN IN THE SNOW! We broke a record-Single Storm record, I think-for the inches of snow we recieved. Which was...12 and a half inches at the airport! I NEVER cannot believe that we had OVER A FOOT of snow in DFW! This is amazing! I'd like to thank Global Warming for this :)
We even helped our neighbors build an igloo in their yard, a BIG one. It is still there, I am guessing it will be for a week or 2.

I've got a lot of pictures to do of this one, but with Picasa I can only do 4 at a time, so I'll do several posts of this. Sorry-if this is boring to you, you can just skip it. This is just really exciting to us!

A dog we were pet-sitting, Atlas, playing in the snow. He could not get enough of it!^

HAPPY FEBRUARY!

I can not beleive it is February already! January passes SO quickly! Our February month will include: 2 of our good friends' birthdays (and parties), Valentine's Day, Presidents' Day, my Birthday, Moving, several theature performances, and enjoying our last weeks of cold weather!
We have a contract on the house we love, in Lucas. We signed the papers on Saturday! So, we bought a house and sold a house in a week and a day. I think we did pretty well :) It is so apparent that this is where the Lord wants us. Simple miracles keep popping up everywhere!
Holly is so excited that seh will be able to get her braces on while we are still in this house-I'm not exactly sure why, but that's ok! She gets her braces on the 23. We leave on the 25. Speaking of Holly, I have some pictures of her in the dress we bought her for Kayli's Reception. I am never going to be able to do a huge Reception post, and that would be boring to read anyway, so I'll try it little by little. The pictures:

This one above is my favorite!

Going, Going, Gone!

We have a contract! House up on market Thurs/Fri, sold on Wednesday. Wow. We had received an offer and countered it. It was accepted! We have less than a month left in this house. Our closing date is set for February 25, 2010.
Now we have to make an offer on a house! We have one house in particular that we love, and are seriously considering. It has 1 1/2 acres, compared to our we-used-to-think-it-was-so-big 1/4 acre. I am excited; it will be fun to try something I have never tried before-country living. But it will be so different-different lifestyle, house, school district, city, ward, friends. I am kind of in shock that everything is happening so quickly. We sold our old house in 8 months, now this in less than a week! And even the idea of us moving happened quickly.

I will tell you more about the other house later, after we/if we close on it.
Front view. I took these pictures just a few minutes ago, after we got the big news of the closing.

our sign

The Backyard. We have another, smaller stretch on the other side of the driveway. Our garden is planted there. On the left, we have a stretch that goes up to the front of the house. Nicknamed "The Run," it is gated so our animals can run around there.

Another Picture

This is another picture I took this summer. We passed a fire truck after we had left our neighborhood, and I really liked the way the bright red of the firetruck looked against the green green grass.
Sorry to bore you with my pictures! I just wanted to "record" them.

A Picture I Love

This is a picure I took at the Grand Canyon this Summer. We were on our way home from the big Lamoreaux Family Reunion, which we had gone to with Roy and Kami Lamoreaux and their family. We decided to stop at the Grand Canyon, since it was practically directly in our path. I love this picture! I love how the mountains make a "background" for the tree.

Christmas Tepees

I thought I would get at least THESE pictures up, since I have no idea when I'll get the rest of the Christmas pictures up. Hopefully by THIS Christmas :) We had a "homemade Christmas" this year, meaning that all of the gifts that we gave each other (yes, every member of the family gives to every other) for Christmas had to be homemade. This is our second homemade Christmas; our first was 2 years ago. We are having them every other year. It took more work this year to come up with ideas, since it seemed like we had used up all of them 2 years ago! But we thought hard, and got some very creative ideas! Like these tepees, for example. Mom made Holly and Collin each their own. They are surprisingly large! I fit in them. And you CAN make it bigger, just by using more fabric. Mom used a pink canvas for Holly's, brown for Collin's. Then she used "WonderUnder" to iron their names vertically above the door. They are SO cute! Holly and Collin use them a lot. They love to set them up in front of the T.V. when they watch a movie, or just plain play in them. I NEVER would have thought of making a Tepee! That shows how creative you can get!

The girl in the pictures is Sofia Fernandes, one of our friends. We were watching her over at our house just a couple weeks ago. She and Holly got out the Tepee, and I caught a picure. So, this is not an actual 'Christmas Picture'.

Our house

Well, here is how the Thomson Family starts out a year to be "less eventful": We MOVE!

Yes, our house is on the market again! We had put it up later last year, and got no bites. We were trying to find houses in this area with land, but couldn't find anything within our price range that was not 25+ minutes away. We took our house off. Lately, we started thinking about how we would like to have some land, to have animals and four-wheelers and all that jazz. We have actually found several houses that we like within our price range in the area! One in particular that we are working for! We live in Allen, and are looking in Lucas, within the Lovejoy School District.

Our house has had quite a few showings! We put our sign up on Thursday, and the house went up on the internet late that night. We had 3 showings Friday, 7 Saturday, 5 yesterday, and have one scheduled so far today. That reaches a grand total of…16 SHOWINGS! We have received 2 offers (one was a contingent, so we couldn't take it), and 1 should be coming in today.

WOW! Is this a sign or what? J Just kidding. But if you compare this to when we put our house up last year, it is pretty amazing! We are going to miss our friends here close, since we will be switching wards to the Second Ward (we're in the 4th). But we lived in the second ward for about 4 years before the wards spit and we got put in 4th again. So at least we know everyone-ok, practically everyone-there.

Funny: we asked Collin what he was looking forward to the most about moving. He said, in a high pitched voice, "CHICKENS!" And he will now walk around singing "Chick-chick-CHICKENS!" Yesterday during one of our showings we just drove around and looked at houses in the area that we were interested in. Collin kept saying how excited he was that we might be able to have chickens. I finally asked him WHY he was so excited about having chickens. He told me "because they will have little chicks that can peck your eyes out!" Ummm, ok? Thanks, Collin! I'm still not sure whether he was saying the general form of 'your' or if he was talking about ME specifically! Collin, Collin. First grenades on the valentines, now carnivorous chicks? J

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year ('s Eve), all! My 2010 Blog Goals-I don't work well with resolutions :):
1). Have at least 2 posts up every month.
2). Upload photos from camera to Picasa frequently, to help with goal 1.
3). Check up on other blogs often, to keep up (ok, I don't really have a problem with this one!)
4). Post a '____ in Review' every year from now on (hopefully 2009 in review will be up before March :))

Happy New Year!!!! I hope that this coming year will be as fun, and maybe a little less eventful, as it was this year!
